Reasons Why You’re Not Attracting Online Art Therapy Clients

Reasons why you’re not attracting art therapy clients

Hey, my art therapists, facilitators, & friends.

Have you ever asked yourself, “Am I doing something wrong?” because you don’t seem to be attracting new clients? Or asked yourself… “Is there something wrong with me? Or something wrong with my service or my business?”

First of all, I’m here to ensure you that there is nothing wrong with you or your business. It’s not a black and white thing for your business. Business is always evolving. And to evolve, we learn, we make “mistakes” (though they are not), we do things differently, we experiment and we see our results.

So don’t think ‘I’m doing something wrong’ or ‘I’m wrong.’ You are good enough. But we are always evolving and this is simply an opportunity to learn even more! and find what may can be changed to be more aligned with our own values and achieve our goals and thus our mission with our business.

What I will be sharing are points that I have learned in business myself. Use them as an invitation to reflect and put on a new perspective about your business. I think it’ll be helpful. Some may apply, some may not.

If you want to watch the video version of this, you can do so here on YouTube.

Or if you want to listen to this episode rather than read it, you can tune into the podcast episode version here: Apple Podcast, Spotify, Google Podcast, and more.

  1. Wanting, wanting, wanting (versus giving)

One thing that affects how we get clients is our approach or attitude of “wanting, wanting, and wanting.”

What I mean by this is that you’re wanting clients — but not giving. Meaning you haven’t focused on helping people first.

What I have realized in my business is that people naturally become my clients when I help them first. When I give to them first.

Then it becomes an easy and natural process for potential clients to sign up for your services because they’ve already received something from me first.

An example of this is: you post about your offer, program, or services and that’s it. All you do is just promote on social media. Promote your services. Here’s how to sign up, here’s my service.

However, when you give first, you share valuable information, tips, and resources to people on your social media, even before you talk about your services.

The level of know, like, and trust factor you can build through giving first can be incredible.

2. You may not be showing up and marketing (enough)

Sometimes we promote and show up online and think it is done. The marketing is done, the promoting is done, and now people will line up at my door to book my services.

However, oftentimes an online business requires more consistency. Consistent or repeated showing up; repeated marketing and promoting.

People often say that we have to hear or see something 7 to 8 times before we remember and buy something. I think it is true. People forget, people have other things in mind, and people need reminders.

That’s why we show up again and again.

We take our potential clients’ growth seriously; we are here for them, day after day.

That makes it so much easier for people to book us.

3. You don’t have a system

Something that we often overlook as art therapists and facilitators is that potential clients often go through a whole PROCESS before they become a client.

Sometimes that process is complicated and confusing, and at other times it’s easy and quick. We want to make the process easy and quick for our clients, because that is best for both the clients and ourselves.

So we have to understand the steps our potential client take; because it’s not like one day all of a sudden 10 people signup for your services out of the blue after you created your website.

You have to take them step by step; how are you going to take 1) people who don’t know 2) to know, like, and trust you 3) to decide whether this is for them 4) to book your service?

What are you gonna have for each part? The more that you can automate and make things easy on yourself, the better. That’s why having a system (for booking clients) is smart.

Without a system, it can get confusing, unpredictable, and unstable.

In conclusion, all these things I mentioned in this post make it difficult for someone to book you. That’s why the goal here is to make it EASY for them.

When you make it easier for them, you make your life easy!!

Hope that was helpful. Let me know which one of the points I shared here resonated with you the most? Let me know in the comments!
